You may notice that this is not a melon. I just wanted to show you what our corn looks like. That first picture I posted wasn't actually an ear of corn, it was just the top thingy that grows on the stalk.

Another wedding.
On the 18th, I went to Katie's wedding. Here she is walking down the aisle with her father, Mark. It was 105 that day. Whew!
First kiss as husband and wife. He's using his black hat to shield them as they kiss.
After a wedding photo shoot, they rode over to the ballroom at the Paso Robles Inn in this carriage.
Dismounting to come in to the ballroom.
Instead of a tiered cake, they had a top layer and then a bunch of cupcakes. I couldn't get the setting right. I only ate one cupcake. It was so yummy!

The arch on my way out. It was a very nice party and the filet mignon was just right--delicious.

Retired!
Mandi and Kyra will be glad to know that I've retired this dress. I've only had it for about 15 years! One day about 6 months ago, I got it out of the closet to iron so I could wear it to church and noticed it was worn out under one sleeve. I almost started crying! I love this dress! Well, I bought some fabric for an Easter dress but used different fabric so I asked Jeannie if she would make up a dress like this one out of the green tulip fabric. I'm going to have another new dress! Don't look too close at the picture--this was before hair and makeup!

This one's for you, Danny.
Remember how frustrated you used to get because everyone you met was somehow connected to me? When Dad and I went to Yanagi's the other day with Kyra and Brad we ran into a former co-worker. Then at Kim Turner's wedding, one of the servers was a former co-worker. Yesterday at Katie Goforth's wedding, I walked into the gardens at the Paso Robles Inn and a young man called to me "Are you Mrs. H?" After I replied that I was, he put out his hand to shake mine and said "I'm Cameron Ingles". I'm always running into someone. He said to say hi! He was one of the photographers for the wedding.

Kim and Robin Graham
Saturday, while Kevin, Kyra and Brad went to San Simeon to BBQ steaks, I went to San Luis Obispo to a friend's wedding. Kim Turner married Robin Graham at the Monday Club. Its a really neat clubhouse built in the 30's and designed by Julia Morgan, architect for Hearst Castle. I don't remember ever being in the back but it has a beautiful garden. Kim went with the whole 40's theme. She was gorgeous! I love what she did with her hair and makeup. Even her dress was in the 40's style. When she walked down the aisle, I asked the lady next to me if that was Kim. Then I craned my neck and said "It is Kim! Wow!". She looked fabulous!
Robin Graham with Kim on his arm. When I sat down, I tried to get a seat in the shade because it was very warm that day. If I had thought it through, I would've sat on the aisle.

Surprise!
Sunshine Roll
Brad and Kyra--Kevin got a phone call Friday afternoon from Kyra telling him they were coming to visit us. The traffic was pretty bad so we met at Yanagi in downtown Paso for Sushi at about 8:45. We were led right to a table and of course, I recognized the busboy. Kyra said she shouldn't be surprised that everywhere I go, I see someone I know. We've only lived here for 30 years!

Zucchini!
Look what I found when I went out to my garden this morning. A blossom on one of my zucchini plants! I'm so excited! At work one day, a customer told me that you could batter-fry zucchini blossoms. Maybe I'll try it.This is one of our potato plants. It has a blossom too. I'll throw out a question to you--how do you know when to harvest potatoes?

Jenny is 21!
Today is my daughter-in-law, Jenny's birthday! I am still getting used to saying "my daughter-in-law" and "my son's wife". I love Jenny so much! She is such a wonderful person, so thoughtful and sensitive--a perfect match for Danny. They really go together well. I'm posting random pictures of her today--most of them with someone else. I think the above picture is the only one I have of her, by herself. Happy birthday, Jenny!

Rrrrip!
There's a funny story to go along with this picture. One night last week I was lying on my bed watching TV with the window and atrium door open to let some fresh air in, when I heard meowing. I looked at the window but I couldn't tell if it was Nori or not and she was really meowing loudly! So a few minutes later I went upstairs to make sure she wasn't already in the house and when I got back downstairs, Nori was in the house! I went into the bedroom and there was this huge hole in the screen. Nori's claw had gotten caught and she couldn't get it out. Repair time! This is my life.

Tomatoes!
Look! There are tomatoes on my plant! I am so excited. I love vine-ripened tomatoes. I'm really looking forward to my first tomato of the season.
