dinner at Goshi's

We did manage a family dinner while Cody was visiting. You might notice some people you don't recognize. Right in front is Debbie Stevenson, Sean's mom. Sean is sitting right next to her. The rest of us you should recognize.
The couple behind us offered to take a picture of all of us because I heard them talking about how he didn't get any wasabe so I gave him mine that I didn't even touch. Yummy food!

Huh?

you're going to love this. look closely and you'll see the little shop on the left says "la petite". the shop next to it that is 4 times bigger says "queen's closet". kevin and i loved this so much he had to circle around so i could get this picture. not only that but there is a sign on the queen's closet that lists their sizes as "14 to 5x". kevin wanted to know how big is a 5x--a tent?

anniversary

yesterday was our anniversary--34 years! we went to morro bay to eat at the breakers cafe. mmm! the food was very good. i ordered sea bass with mango salsa and kevin ordered pacific snapper. we topped it off with creme brulee. wasn't as good as mcphee's creme brulee. when we asked our server to take our picture, another server came up behind him and gave him the rabbit ears sign with two fingers. pretty funny.

Cody's visit

Cody came home for the Memorial Day weekend and ended up staying for an extra week. He wanted to spend quality time with his buddy, Sean. Cody asked me to take a picture of him and Sean after church one Sunday so I did and then I got out my camera.
I didn't get too many pictures of Cody due to the fact that he was chillin' with Sean all the time. At the airport. compare him to Sean on dannyandjenny.blogspot.com

Garden--2010

i know its been awhile but here's what i planted in my half barrels this year--a six pack of jalapeno peppers. i just wanted one plant but the person in garden told me when i picked up one that it was old and i should get a new plant and he directed me to the six pack. so i will have enough jalapenos for the whole neighborhood.
early girl tomatoes. i just noticed this morning that we have one little tomato on one of the plants!
and of course, kevin, kyra and brad planted a whole bunch of stuff in the drip line section of the garden. can't wait!

sunday nursery

kyra and i are assistants in the nursery at church. this means that we get to play with children 18 months to 3 years old! well, the other day, after feeding the children blueberry muffins, kyra noticed there were crumbs on the floor. she got down on the floor under the table and started picking up the crumbs. the children thought that looked like fun so they got down on the floor, too. i just happened to have my camera so i started taking pictures and here they are!
isaac--he can be mischievious

payden--a big helper. you can tell he's the first-born in his family.

olivia--the only girl, she's very precocious. one sunday her dad sent her to me to say "good afternoon, kathleen" only she says "kafween". later, in class, i prompted her to say "good afternoon, sherri" to sherri goforth and she said "good afternoon, sherri goforth" and she said "sherri goforth" all afternoon.

trace--he doesn't talk much and the first toy he wants out of the toy cupboard are the animals that go in the "ark"

olivia and payden are building something. and that's how we spend our sunday afternoons!

Sunday:(

we were up at o'dark thirty on sunday morning to head to san luis obispo for danny and jenny's early-morning flight. here they are, heading into the terminal.
kevin and i went out to the car and took a nap while we waited for their flight to take off. i think this is their plane....
before they took off, i walked up to the fence and watched the preparation for takeoff. it was very interesting to see one of the ground crew wave her light stick and one propeller started up. when that one was going, she waved her stick and the other propeller started up.
here's a shot of another plane that left just after.
we sure had a good time with danny and jenny and look forward to the next time they come to visit us.

Saturday

Saturday we had a full day planned....
we started by lunching at the Pozo Saloon. here are only half of my children.

we ordered and asked our server to bring the carrot cake out first. jenny and brad ordered a piece each and we all shared it with them while we waited for our food to be brought out along with the nachos Kevin ordered.
kyra's garden burger melt got really messy but she was loving it!

Brad also ordered a garden burger melt.
jenny and danny----such good times!!!

kyra won. she scarfed down her garden burger melt!
Neptune pool taken from the pool terrace. i really wanted to go swimming but alas, i didn't have my suit. (side note, you don't get to go swimming.)

this was taken just after we came up from the Neptune pool. you can see part of the temple of Neptune to the right. jenny wanted a picture of herself and danny so i got in on the action, also.

this bush was growing right outside the guesthouse we just toured. so beautiful!

the view from one of the terraces

if i remember correctly, our guide mentioned that these statues are the oldest antiquities on the "hill"

the mosaic floor just inside the main entrance. we didn't get to enter through that door because of this floor. it was just recently redone.

statue to the right of the main door

table setting in the dining room
our attention was brought to the bear cage as we rode down the hill
the view from the drive down the hill. it was a very beautiful day!

Friday

we made plans to visit hearst castle but on the way went to morro bay (kevin got the afternoon off). kevin, kyra (brad was working), jenny and danny.
this sea otter was floating on his back and we couldn't tear ourselves away!

by morro rock

while we were watching the otters, a family asked us to take their picture and then they offered to take ours. as you can see, it was very windy that day!
aren't they so cute? this is the san simeon pier. to see more cuteness just go to dannyandjenny.blogspot.com
on the way to san simeon pier, we dropped into a small museum. it was very interesting. you should go there sometime.
guess who?
i just wanted a scenic shot--not too many elephant seals in view.

just a few here....
a little further along the shore, we found more seals

lots of blubber --- there's a reason they're called "elephant seals" . we finally tore ourselves away from the seals and drove up to the visitor's center for hearst castle. there we found out it was too late for a tour. they were all sold out :( we drove back to san luis where we were scheduled to meet up with some friends of danny's and eat dinner at goshi's. we also met up with brad there on his way home from work
this is only part of what danny ordered....he can really pack it away. sorry i didn't post this sooner, jenny. you could've used it on your blog!

Brad ordered this--egg cake
and this. don't know what it was but he polished it off! after dinner, i suggested that we go to the madonna inn and show everyone the bathroom in the wine cellar.
you can't really tell but that's water running down the rocks in the urinal...kind of like a waterfall

then brad stepped in for a posed shot...only posing people! and that was the end of our day! so much fun to be together!
