Anniversary

I just had to post this since Mandi (amandalblack.blogspot.com) made such a big deal about her 12th anniversary. Yesterday was my anniversary THIRTY-TWO, yes that's T-H-I-R-T-Y-T-W-O years. I think that is a great accomplishment. Since it was Sunday, we didn't go out to dinner like we usually do but we did give talks in church! Kevin asked me for a lunch date today and when I suggested Buono Tavola he thought that was too expensive. Kevin wants take-out from the Templeton Market but I don't think I want that. I'll get rolls from Sushi Kokku instead. mmmmmm
Here's a funny little sidenote--we were at Von's on Saturday night because we were out of bananas and I suggested to Kevin that he might want to go to aisle 6. He asked me why and I just gently pushed him in that direction saying, "just go see." The flower stand was that way too but I didn't even think of that. I just wanted him to buy me an anniversary card. After I paid for the bananas, I headed for the car and then turned to see if he was at the checkout stand yet. There he was paying for his items and the cashier was a friend from WalMart (she works two jobs) so I went back to introduce them and noticed Kevin had bought a dozen roses. In my defense, that wasn't my intent when I suggested he go to the greeting card aisle. Really! Thank you for the beautiful roses!

I did it!

I finally did it! I've been making homemade salsa for 5 or 6 years now and Kevin finally said it was good. Not "its missing something" or "you almost got it" but its just right! I think its in the tomatoes I used as the base. Start with 1 can (10 ounces) Ro*Tel Mexican Lime & Cilantro, 1 can Ro*Tel Mexican Festival Diced Tomatoes with Lime Juice and Cilantro (2 cans total). Add 1/4 c chopped onion, 1 chopped garlic clove, 1 Jalapeno pepper and 1/4 cup chopped cilantro. Blend it in the blender on the lowest speed until it is the desired consistency. Keep it covered and refrigerate. Enjoy! Ever since Cody talked me into making it for him to take to school, that's the only salsa I like. I hope you like it too. By the way, its very spicy so if you don't like spicy don't eat it!

Father's Day

Beings as how it was Father's Day yesterday, I decided that Dad deserved a home-cooked meal so he wouldn't have to resort to "phony macaroni". I made spaghetti (homemade sauce!) with angel-hair pasta and green beans. I also cooked up the rest of the Texas toast I had in the freezer. I baked a cake while the sauce was cooking and about a half hour after it came out of the oven, dad asked "When do we get the cake?" Isn't he so funny?
I hope all you fathers out there had a wonderful day.

Pilates

You'll never guess what I did today! I taught a Pilates class! Last week when I went into The Fitness Zone for Pilates, Joyce, the instructor quickly came up to me and asked me if I could teach the class for today because they were going out of town this weekend. She made up a "cheat sheet" and I followed it pretty closely. There were five ladies there and they seemed to get along well, especially since I only did 30 reps on the clams series! I was really nervous, though and found drops of sweat on my mat after the clam series. I was planning on taking a picture for you but forget in my nervousness. My camera is still in the cupboard. Oh well, they probably wouldn't have agreed to have their picture taken.

soccer games

When Kevin and I got to the school field on Saturday, April 26th, we wandered around several games before finding Mitchell's game. Mike was line "dad". Rachel came up to us and gave us big hugs and said to me, "Grandma, I'm so glad to see you!" She just knows the right thing to say. It always touches my heart.

Rachel's ballet class

On Thursday, April 24, 2008, I drove from Provo to Salt Lake to watch my granddaughter Rachel in her ballet class. After I'd been there about 5 minutes, she came down from the stage to hug me and said "Grandma, I've missed you so much!" So sweet!

Proudest Day!

On April 25, 2008, Kyra Rebecca Liggett graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Art Education, minoring in Art History, cum laude. For those of you that don't know what that means, she was in the top 10 percent of her class! You are so awesome, Kyra!! Enjoy the video and hear her brother, Danny's pride coming through.

After Kyra's convocation, we went to the Provo Tabernacle for Brad's graduation from J. Reuben Clark Law School.

"Perfect"

Is anyone else out there in bloggerland as disturbed and irritated by the misuse and abuse of the word perfect? I am so freaking tired of hearing that word. Nothing is perfect. I must hear it a hundred times a day. Please, for the love of all that is holy, stop misusing that word!!
