Lunch at Basil

Kyra--3 months pregnant!

I have to tell you about the cute way they told us they were expecting. Brad contacted me about my schedule, telling me they wanted to thank us for letting them live in our garage apartment for the past year (for free!). We made arrangements to eat lunch at Panolivo's in Paso Robles on Saturday the 18th. I took my camera so I could take pictures but forgot to take any! After we finished eating, Kyra said "We want to give you a little something" reaching into her purse. She pulled out a card and my first thought was "They better not be giving us a gift card!" She told us we had to look at it together. I leaned over to Kevin and opened the card Thank you and inside "for everything. And congratulations Grandma and Grandpa". I looked at her and kind of squealed "really?" I leaned over and hugged her and we both started tearing up. Then they told us they wanted to wait for the first trimester to pass before they started telling anyone and their due date is March 30th which is kind of funny because my first pregnancy due date was also March 30th!

Mike's Birthday

I let Lana know earlier this week that I would be off on Saturday at 7pm (Mike's birthday was yesterday). So she asked me where would be a place that could handle a big crowd. After thinking about it, I remembered McLintock's in Paso. Good food and lots of room. So we gathered there (I was a little late) last night to celebrate the birth of my oldest brother, Mike, pictured here with Lana. that's Patty stewart next to them
Mike made a valiant effort to blow out all the candles after the McLintock's staff sang to him. Lana provided the cake.

Two goofy kids, Jacob and Logan, both Mike's grandsons.

The other end of the table, Kevin, Andrew-Kailie's boyfriend, Kailie, Richard (first time seen here--Mike's youngest son, a recent transplant from Oklahoma) and Lynsey, Jacob's mother.

Lynsey and Christine--Mike's daughter. We had a fun time -- it was noisy but the food was delicious! Happy Birthday, Mike!

Friday

Before I went to Utah, I contacted my friend Peggy Cann and made arrangements to go to the temple and have lunch. Early Friday morning, I headed to American Fork where the Mount Timpanagos temple is. After the session, we met at Magleby's Fresh. I picked up Cody and his friend, Julia on the way.

Cody's new room--typical apartment

Cody was growing a beard. his facial hair was red! I took another picture close up but he didn't like it so i won't post it here.

Cody's building from the outside. I booked it back to Salt Lake to pick up my stuff and change my clothes. Danny and Shaq took me to the airport and I made it with time to spare. Got in to San Luis on time and Kevin was waiting at the airport to take me home.
What a nice vacation!

Thursday

Thursday was Mitchell's birthday, but before we went to dinner together, I watched a couple of movies at Danny and Jenny's house. One I've wanted to see for awhile "Iron Man". I loved that movie! It was awesome!
I met up with Mandi and Mike and their children at Chili's. don't you love Rachel's cute face? I got to sit by her. She ate quesadillas, Mitchell and Austin both ordered ribs. I had a Jalapeno Steak Quesadilla. So delicious!

Austin, Mandi and Mike. Mike and Mandi both ordered fajitas. Mitchell is 13 now!

Wednesday

It was Rachel's birthday, she's 6, so I went over to her house and found Mandi in the middle of making cupcakes! Here, Rachel must have been helping because she's wearing an apron. (Just a little side note, that apron was given to Mandi, Rachel's mother, when Mandi was a little girl)
Danny made a point of asking me if I wanted to invite Penny over for dinner so I called her the day before and she consented. In case you didn't know, Penny is a life-long friend. Then I thought it would be fun to have Teri and Clem over the same night so we arranged that(Teri is my sister and Clem my brother-in-law). Amanda was there too and Amanda and Jenny made Chicken Parmesan. Very good! Amanda also brought sugar cookies. they had almond flavor icing on them. Delicious!

Tuesday

I went to the Salt Lake Temple on Tuesday morning then headed back to Danny and Jenny's. I was hoping to get to visit with one of my friends, Cindy, but she was involved with getting her kids started in school.

I watched a movie I hadn't seen before--"Lars and the Real Girl"

Shaq!

Danny and Jenny informed at dinner on Saturday night, that they were adopting a dog. Not just any dog, but a Great Dane! They were on track to get him on Tuesday but received a call from the facilitator that they would be getting the dog on Monday!
So Monday night, Jenny's family had to come over to see him because John (her dad) loves dogs. Shaq revelled in the attention! Jenny, Shaq and John

shaq thinks he's a lap dog so any time you sit down he is right there for attention.

Monday....

Rachel ate a blue sucker after lunch at Sizzler--hence, blue teeth!
i didn't get any response to my calls or text messages to mandi so i just decided to drive over there on monday morning. when i got there, mike said mandi went to her office and rachel was next door. he went over to get her and a minute later i heard a scream. i told myself that must have been rachel when mike told her i was there. i suggested we go out to lunch because i was very hungry so we went to sizzler. yummy! when we got back rachel "read" a book to me and then got out her coloring book and a box of 64 crayons that only had about half that number. we colored several pictures then rachel asked me if i wanted to watch tv so we turned it on. I found the "Cake Boss" and watched it until dinner! he makes the most awesome cakes!

Sunday...

Sunday afternoon we drove up to Jenny's parent's house for a bbq and swim party. There were all kinds of people there, most of whom I didn't know. We got some drinks (fruit punch for me) really yummy! and went outside to watch the guys play the ball game in the pool. If you want to know more about it go to Danny and Jenny's blog, dannyandjenny.blogspot.com and check out all the pictures Jenny posts of the ball game.
We were just about done with dinner when the wind started gusting very hard and we had to retire to the house. then it started raining! after awhile, decided to go home and guess who showed up? Amanda's friend, Sean, who is a dead-ringer for my son, Cody.
