i stole this picture from facebook. kyra and brad always dress up really cute for halloween and they did it again! brad sent me a text message a couple of days before halloween asking if i would be going to the church for the annual "trunk or treat", but, lo, i was scheduled to work. he then asked me to come to his house to help hand out candy on sunday evening. they would also feed me but only if i came in costume. then he sent another text with a message from kyra "and tell her that she can't wear that stupid "this is my costume" shirt! i laughed so hard because i was going to wear that shirt. i had to come up with a costume idea quick (this was on saturday)! I remembered a customer coming through my line earlier in the week dressed for a party and her hair in a 60's 'do. i thought, "i could do that too. just curl my hair in my brush rollers and wear my shirtwaist dress, put some blue eyeshadow on my eyelids and i would be ready to rock and roll. i also added my apron to copy june cleaver.
it was fun curling my hair--i haven't used the brush rollers for years! at church one of the mothers coming in to pick up her child from the nursery said she really liked my hair! after church we headed to slo with a stop at kevin's work so he could assist candy with the month end run. by the time we got to kyra and brad's (kevin wore my orange "this is my costume shirt") they had already eaten dinner:( we just reheated the "three sisters" dish they made using the fresh pumpkin out of our garden and it was really good. for dessert brad made pumpkin pie cheesecake, again using pumpkin from our garden. everything was delicious. i contributed a loaf of fresh bread.
so we waited, and waited, and waited but only 2 families came trick or treating. i was disappointed and i know brad was too. we made up for it by playing games--first cranium! love it! then apples to apples. kevin just read from the national geographic magazines they had on their coffee table. fun was had by all and then we went home.
