curtain

Mandi, you will be delighted to know that I hung a new shower curtain in the garage apartment bathroom. Its clear with brown and tan sand dollars and shells on it. It looks so much better than just the plain liner. xoxo mom

Singing with the Angels

Saturday was our Stake Temple day commemorating the 50th anniversary of the LA Temple dedication. Pres Andrus liked to call it a Jubilee. I'm in the choir and we opted to sing two hymns from the hymnbook to open the chapel session and "This is the Christ" by James E. Faust. We had a little trouble during rehearsal because we were intimidated by the size of the room. Bigger than a football field!! When it came time to sing for the session, we really belted it out. It turned out beautiful. I felt such a wonderful feeling! After every verse our conductor had to pause for a second to wait for the echo. That is really awesome! I felt like I was part of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. It was a really beautiful experience!

Cashiering

I ask all you nerds with nothing else to do to comment on this situation--I'm finishing a transaction with Customer #1. Customer #2 comes into view with something in his hand to purchase and cust #1 waves him over to her, effectively motioning him to cut in line in front of other customers who are patiently waiting and putting their purchases on the conveyor belt. Should I ring up cust #2 or should I ask him to take his place at the end of the line? What would you do?

Washing the Car

While I'm washing my car last Monday, I notice the passenger side mirror's paint is scraped off a little. I think to myself, 'Somebody scraped my mirror'. Then I look at the garage door jamb and sure enough the paint is scraped off there too. I know I didn't do it. Ok, guilty party, 'fess up.

Chocolate Chip cookies

I was preparing to bake chocolate chip cookies. (I know, Cody, two batches in less than a month!) I got out the butter and set the microwave to "defrost" to soften it up. Meanwhile, I went upstairs to see if there was anything interesting online or on someone's blog. When I went to get the butter out of the microwave, it was almost totally melted. So I go back to the computer to let it cool off. A little while later and I check the butter and its almost totally resolidified! I proceed to mix up the dough and while I was beating it, I noticed that it was very fluffy! After baking, I taste-tested one and it wasn't any different. The melted butter just made it easier to mix. And that's all I have to say about that except I think I like cc cookies with milk chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet chips.

Hot Water Heater

So I'm trying to wash the dishes on Sunday after baking chocolate chip cookies (yummy) and I'm not getting any hot water. I finish cleaning up with the cold water and tell Kevin that we don't have any hot water. The next morning while we're talking on the phone he reminds me that the garage apartment door is unlocked so I can use that shower. Its kind of inconvenient because then I have to remember to take everything over there so my getting-ready time is longer. Oh well. Now he has to replace the house water heater! This is my life.

Born today 1913

Today is my mother's birthday. I'll let you do the math. I almost started crying at work thinking of how much I miss her and wish she were here to ask her questions. She was a very great lady.

Guess Who?

After reading Dad's blog, I've been thinking about starting my own. It probably won't be as cute as my daughter Mandi's, cause she has the cutest kids in the world! And they do and say the cutest things! But once in awhile I might have something to say that would interest all of you out there in bloggerland. So back to Mandi's kids--the other day when I was babysitting them (that's what Grandma's do when they go on vacation), Austin (5) was outside playing with his friend and he suddenly came running in the house. "There's a storm coming so I let the dog in the house." Now how many 5-year-olds do you hear say that, there's a storm coming? After I told him to put the dog back outside, it started pouring! Of course, I knew it was going to rain but Austin was so right on.
