I'm Done!!!

You'll never believe it! I finally finished my painting project that I started 2 1/2 years ago! It started out easily enough. I decided to surprise Kevin and paint one wall of our hallway. Well, after I adjusted to the new color (going from Navajo white to Palmetto), I saw that the whole hallway needed new paint. It was the original paint from when we moved in here 24 years ago! I got the hallway done, with Kevin's help and almost finished the inside of the hall closet when I ran out of paint and impetus. Since I start work in the afternoon today, I decided that today was the day! It didn't take too much prep work due to Mandi having cleaned out the closet when she was here last (thank you, Mandi!). It was kind of awkward painting the upper back corners since I left the shelves in. I really didn't think it through or I would've taken the two shelves out first to paint the walls and the ceiling. Oh well. Its done and now Kevin will put the door back on.

Rachel

I've got to interject this video of Rachel in the middle of my Boston posts. I met Mandi at the middle school where Rachel was having her dance class. After I'd been there about 5 minutes, Rachel came down off the stage and ran over to me, hugging me and said "Grandma, I've missed you so much!"

Westin Boston Waterfront

Ok, Kyra gets the prize for most delinquent posting. Its been almost a year since she went to Europe! We want to see more of your pictures, Kyra! After we picked up our luggage from the carousel in the terminal (Logan Airport), we didn't know what to do or where to go so I suggested that we go outside to the hotel shuttle pickup to see if our hotel had one. It was really cold out there! We found the pickup spot but alas! no Westin hotel pickup listed. We went back in to the shuttle board and saw it wasn't listed there either so we called the hotel to ask them if they had one and they said they didn't, to just get a cab. Well, you know Kevin--"I'm not getting a cab". By the time we figured out we could take the subway, we had been there for about an hour. This was my first experience on the subway and it was nice. It took us under the ocean (the airport is on an island!). It wasn't too far to our hotel from the station (World Trade Center Station) as you can see from this picture--less than a block. We walked over a pedestrian bridge that spanned the new Interstate (the Big Dig).

Shock!

Before you read this, you might want to sit down. I'm actually cooking dinner tonight! Cody and I went shopping and I was picking out a frozen lasagne dinner and he suggested I make real lasagne. Oh, and I couldn't make the microwave version. So I bought all the ingredients and it is now baking in the oven!! I've never used this recipe before--I bought lasagne sheets that don't need to be boiled. I hope it turns out ok. I'll post a picture after its done baking. Yummy!

My Birthday!

Yesterday was my birthday so I bought a tiara to wear while I was working. That was alot of fun and I got a lot of questions and comments from customers and co-workers alike. I would have a picture of me to post but I gave the tiara to a friend's daughter who calls me "her girl". When I tried to hand it to her, she said "No. that's yours." Whenever they come in the store, Jenny, (that's the little girl's name) asks her mom, "Where's my girl?". Isn't that the cutest? So, when they stopped to say hi they noticed the tiara and then sang happy birthday to me when I told them it was my birthday. That was pretty nice! And to top it off when I got home and looked in the mirror, there was a birthday message written from Cody. Thanks, Toad.
Kevin and I went to McPhee's in Templeton for dinner tonight. I had Macadamia Crusted Halibut and Dad had steak. Yummy! Of course, we finished it off with Creme Brulee.
