river walk

After hearing about the River walk from my fitness class instructor a couple of months ago, I decided that's where Kevin and I would go for our date. When I suggested it to him he said let's go to dinner at Panda Express first. So we decided to meet there after Kevin got off work and then take the walk. When I got out of my car, I heard someone ask me if I had a Hemi in it. When I looked around and started to reply I realized it was Warner Oxborrow with Lauren Butterfield riding shotgun. We got to talking and I found out they were going to eat at Panda too. I invited them to join us and we had a very enjoyable time together. That's when Lauren reminded me that she was doing Bike n Build starting in Massachusetts and riding her bicycle across the country and building houses as she went with a group of like-minded bikers.

When we took the river walk it was quite a letdown. All the plants they had marked as something special looked like weeds that I would pull out of my garden!

Our House

One day when I came back from my walk, as I was walking up the driveway, I looked at our house and thought to myself, "Our house looks really pretty." So I went in the house to get my camera and take a picture. In case you haven't seen a picture of it yet, here's what it looks like, Jenny.

Robe

I've always thought it would be so cool to stay in a hotel that provides robes. So I was really psyched to find this on the back of the bathroom door of our room when we checked in. Sweet!
And then there was the indoor pool and hot tub!

Redlands Temple

the side of James house

We drove to Crestline on Friday night after Kevin got off work--I had Friday off and wasn't due in to work on Saturday until 5:30pm so it worked out well for us to deliver James' trailer to him. It was a beautiful night with a full moon and as we drove up Ca-18 (a very windy road climbing the mountains east of LA) I enjoyed looking at the lights of the city spread out below us. I think the final altitude was 5000 ft. It was pretty scary. James house is very nice with huge redwoods all around. I'm sorry now that I didn't go down to the bottom of the lot where they parked the 5th wheel to take a picture. The trees were fabulous!

We decided to take in a session at the Redlands Temple on the "way home". It was really about 25 or 30 miles out of our way but we couldn't resist the opportunity. Its a very beautiful temple.

Kevin's family

Madison, Daron holding Emersyn, Kaitlin.

Kevin Ray Goodwin holding Lauren and baby Emersyn. What a lovely family! You can go the our family website to find out more information about them.

Surprise!!

When Ed and I walked into Kevin's house, we called out and Kevin came walking down the hall toward us with a tiny bundle in his arms. A new baby joined their family the day before! Her name is Emersyn Rae and she is so precious! I really enjoyed getting to know her and Kevin's other children and his wife, Taya. Thank you again for your hospitality! I hope its not 3 years til we see you all again.

Heidi and Bryce Curtis

Bryce, Heidi Curtis. Carol and Ed Goodwin.
It was so hot!! there. We didn't spend too much time taking pictures because the sun was shining directly on us. The newlyweds were in the shade but it was still hot there.

Heidi's wedding

When I called my brother Ed a couple of months ago and he told me Heidi was engaged, I thought how nice it would be to go to Arizona to be with her for her special day. So Kevin and I talked it over and he said he didn't see why I couldn't go. On August 6th, I boarded a plane in San Luis Obispo and headed to Phoenix. The flight was uneventful (just a little over one hour!) and Ed was at the airport to meet me.

Blogging

I'm suffering from a severe case of blogger's ennui. In my defense, I'm having trouble downloading (or is it uploading) pictures from my camera to my computer and I know how important pictures are! Soon there will be something new and exciting on my blog. Really!

Danny

Cody was still a baby in his carseat/carrier when we went to the orthodontist for Danny. One of the ladies there called Cody "pumpkin" and Danny asked me why no one called him pumpkin. Danny was about 10 then. Isn't that the cutest? One of these days, I'll have my scanner online and will be able to add old pictures so you will all be able to see that I have the most beautiful children in the world!
