a lot of driving, very little time

Just a warning---there are alot of pictures in this post. I decided to post all the pictures from our trip in one fell swoop. (I counted--60 pictures!) The above picture is one of our living room in the cottage (#5) we stayed in when we visited Kevin's parents in Oregon.
This is the bathroom of the cottage. Too bad you can't see how truly big it is!

This is the view out the bedroom window. Through the trees you can see the hospital.

This is our room at the Gold Spike in Las Vegas. Kevin got out his phone as we were leaving because they took a $100 deposit for damages and he wanted proof that we left it in the same condition we found it so I took a picture with my camera.

Another shot of our room. We left Paso about 3pm on Thursday, the 4th, and arrived in Las Vegas at 9:30. I was so tired I didn't even want to go out to eat.

Bathroom in Las Vegas.

This is the hallway right outside our room. You can't really tell but it wasn't square---it was angled.

The front door of our hotel--of course, we had to walk through the casino to register. I didn't like that because the gamblers were smoking.

As we're getting ready to leave, I snapped this picture. It wasn't too bad for $13!!

Snow on the mountains somewhere in Utah

More snow

We made it to Provo! Kevin is on the phone with someone from his work while we're waiting for Cody.

We went to dinner at the African Store with Danny, Jenny and Cody. This food looks weird but was delicious! I would definitely eat there again!!!

Cody, Kevin, Jenny and Danny enjoying dinner. Thank you, Danny and Jenny!

Jenny and Danny as we're getting ready to head out the door for Austin's baptism on Saturday, the 6th. Aren't they so beautiful?

Cody getting in some study time....

Rachel and Uncle Cody!

Rachel with Grandpa Kevin

Here's part of our family--Grandpa Kevin, Rachel, Cody (y so serious?), Jenny and Danny.

Austin and his dad, Mike, all ready for the baptism.

Mike and Mandi's Bishop

After the baptism, we adjourned to Mandi and Mike's house for lunch. Kevin was looking at Cody and said "I have to know" . Yes, Cody is the tallest one of our family!

Then Uncle Steve had to compare -- Cody is standing on his tiptoes! He has a way to go to catch up with Uncle Steve.

I took this picture as we headed to Reno from Salt Lake. We didn't get to spend much time with our family in Salt Lake because we wanted to visit with Kevin's parents in Oregon. Kevin did get Mandi's over-the-stove microwave installed, though. Sorry, no pictures. I was too tired.

I can't remember why I took this picture or what it is. Sorry.

I think this is self-explanatory. We arrived in Reno early enough to go out to dinner. After we checked into the Showboat Inn, we walked down the strip looking for a good place to eat dinner. We found The El Dorado with signs outside advertising 9 different restaurants so we decided to see if they had something we would like. Kevin wanted steak. He was really hungry and when we found the first restaurant, they had a waiting line. We thought we would try the buffet but the line was 3 or 4 times as long for that. We went back outside and walked somemore until we found Harrah's. They had several restaurants and the one we chose was Cafe Napa. There wasn't anyone waiting in line and we were seated immediately. It was a good thing too, because Kevin might have started eating the napkins. They brought us bread and we ordered--Kevin the ribeye and I chose the chicken lettuce wraps. Very good.
When we walked back to our hotel I took this picture of the Heart O' Town motel.

Too bad its closed.

Here's the Silver Bells Wedding Chapel

Our room had two beds. It was pretty nice but the noise all night long was awful. I didn't get much sleep because of the traffic, sirens, car alarms, and airplanes.

Through the trees on Highway 395, we could see the snow on the ground. I don't think I've ever been on this highway before. It was a beautiful drive.

More snow.
There were several meadows with pure, beautiful snow. I wanted to get out and make a snowball but Kevin just kept driving.

We stopped at this reststop and had to get a picture of the contradicting signs.

Kevin had to throw snowballs at our car.

As we were leaving the rest stop, Kevin said it was the nicest reststop he's ever been in.

I wasn't looking out the window when Kevin pulled over and turned around so I could take a picture of this sign. Don't think I want to go swimming in this lake.

The devastation of a fire.

Snow-capped mountains.

The sign said Mount Shasta so I took this picture

Click on this picture and you'll be able to see the three deer right across the street from LaVerne and Walt's cottage.

I took this picture out their window

This is the bedroom of our cottage.

Here's the kitchen. The cupboards were loaded with all kinds of dishes, pots and pans. On the counter was a basket of packets for making coffee, tea or cocoa. I made hot chocolate the first morning. Yummy!

The closet by the front door. That's a kitchen chair on the right.

Living room with a pass-through to the kitchen

Cheryl drove us to see her house and take Myrtle's car because ours was in the shop. It needed a tune-up and the constant-velocity joints needed fixing.
Cheryl and Dave's house again. I really wanted to get a shot of her daffodils. They were splendid!

Here you can see all her daffodils.

These next shots were daffodils in a horse pasture on the way to Dave and Cheryl's house.

Kevin didn't stop for this shot so I got it out the back window. I was trying for the beautiful tree. As you can see it was raining. We were very blessed to have good weather all through our trip. It was a nice visit with our Utah family and with Kevin's parents and brother and sister-in-law in Oregon.
