Music and the Spoken Word

Sunday morning I drove into Salt Lake City to see the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and my friend who is a member of the choir. I didn't get to see Peggy but I really enjoyed the performance.

The Salt Lake Temple from across the street.

Scrabble!

Last Saturday, Danny and Jenny picked me up at the airport and we drove directly to The African Store where we ate a delicious dinner.
We dropped Danny off at home and went to the store for bananas. (gotta have 'em!) and when we got back we decided to play scrabble. If I remember correctly, Danny finished first and got the points from the tiles Jenny and I couldn't use but Jenny won by just a few points. Such fun.

we did a good job of spreading out the game over the whole board.

new 'do

I'm posting these pictures of my new hairdo so you'll recognize me when you pick me up at the airport on Saturday, Danny and Jenny. What do you think?
When I went in to Robin this morning, I told her I wanted a new style so she asked me if I wanted to go back to the old style that I wore for about 10 years. I said yes and she prepared to start cutting and looked at me in the mirror and asked me if I was sure. Then I wailed "I don't know". So she got out some hairstyle magazines and I found one without too much trouble. This is what she came up with.

patio redo

a couple of saturdays ago, brad and kevin took up all the pavers in the front section of the patio. this is what it looked like after. kevin has a friend coming over to dig up all the roots that were making the pavers uneven while he helps brad with the roof of their new house.

New House

Early Sunday morning (I didn't even take a shower! eek), Brad, Kyra, Kevin and I took off for San Luis to pick up their new flooring for the living room and hall. Its made from bamboo and is beautiful. Here's a shot of their house from the sidewalk. Kyra is very adamant about repainting the outside of the house. She does not like the pink. and when we walked out into the backyard, you could see where they didn't finish the paint job.
This is the kitchen.

This bathroom is off the kitchen and has two doors

Living room with double sliding glass doors (opens from both sides!) and that is a working fireplace.

Baby's room! (Brad designated it so) no, they are not pregnant but this will be the baby's room, sometime in the future.
For some reason, they called it the master bedroom, I guess because the bathroom is right there.

Second bedroom--look at the lovely windows!

This is the master bath--

This will be the master bedroom
They don't like this carpeting so they bought new flooring and I did try to help unload. I decided after taking one box from the truck to the kitchen that I'd let the big guns do it.

2nd night at the fair

Friday night after work I called a coworker to ask her if she would switch shifts with me for Saturday. I know it was last-minute but she was gracious and said yes she would. She wouldn't have to show up for work until 1! Then I just had to get it okayed by my boss. They agreed but that meant I had to show up for work at 7, that's am! I really wanted to see Sheena Easton!
Here's a picture of her at the first show. Its really great that they have big-name shows on the free stages!! She's singing "Morning Train".

During her last song, a person nearby pointed up and I saw this skydiver with the flag. They do this for the rodeo going on in the main grandstand. We tried to get Sheena to look up but she was too wrapped up in Singing!

Her last song--"For Your Eyes Only"

These pictures are from the later show.

And after the show I wandered out to the street where school buses pick up people who park at Lowe's, the high school or Albertson's so there isn't crowding at the fairgrounds. They have two routes, East and West. Whoever thought up this idea, it is wonderful! And that's the end of my Saturday night!
